| wow, i recently discovered that with an espn insider account, you can
listen to ESPN Radio online 24 hours / day. After listening to
Dan Patrick this morning, i rank him up there with Howard Stern as the
two best radio personalities. damn, i miss howard stern so
much... Dan Patrick's interviews are funny as hell. Also
Keith Olbermann is great too. For those of you that dont know,
Dan Patrick and Keith Olbermann are the founding fathers of a certain
show called "SportsCenter" aka "The Big Show." The se two made
sportscenter "SportsCenter" before people like stuart scott turned it
into a cartoon. Go read the book "The Big Show" for
SportsCenter's history written in first person by DP and KO.
now i can listen to espn radio all day during work. good times...

| NFL Playoffs:
its been awhile since i sat down and watched NFL. what i saw this
sunday was pathetic compared to the NE Patriots football i am used
to. here are the examples:
Pittsburgh @Indy:
1. Scenario: pitts up 21-10 5:30 left.
Polamalu intercepts peyton's pass, game over, right? yes and
no. instead of falling on the ground and practically finish off
the colts, this dumbass decides to get up, act like a little monkey,
tries to return the INT about 2 yards, fumble the ball, let the ball
hit the ground, jump on it, then starts celebrating his potentially
game-ending interception with his potentially game-eneding fumble
recovery of his own fumble. result? ref makes a brutal
reversal of the play (ref should get fired immediately), manning scored
TD + 2 pt. blame the refs if you like, if i was polamalu's
teammate, i would have punched him in the face if pitts lost that game.
all he had to do was catch the ball, fall down, game over. nice
fucking job. there is the difference between bilichick and other
coaches. you will NEVER see a patriots player who just made a
game clinching int NOT do the right thing of falling down ASAP.
Do you see rodney harrison jump up and down and try to return a
super-bowl clinching int off mcnabb?
2. Scenario: pitts up 21-18 with the ball on the indy 2 after getting it on downs. around 3 min left.
4 plays to get 2 yards to get into the end zone. should be easy
for a running team. game over right? what i would do IF i
was a coach is to run straight ahead hopefully NOT getting into the end
zone to eat another 30 secs of the clock. what happens?
bettis runs to the side (bettis later said that it was a counter play), loses 2 yards on the play, fights to try to
get back to the line of scrimmage. instead of going full steam
ahead, he gets turned around with HIS BACK to the end zone while the
ball is being protected by ONE HAND on his right side. fumble
ensues. nice fucking job of coaching right there. that
would have been a perfect time for cowher to call a time out, get his
team together and tell them exactly what to do (protect the damn ball
& eat the clock). absolute disgrace to coaching. pitts
should hire chris webber to call timeouts for cowher.
3. Scenario: Indy gets the ball back short field on own 42. Needs
30 yards for a tying fg. Then 1st down at pitts 36, then 2nd 2 at
pitts 28. Looking at a 45 yard field goal, plenty of time, plenty
of downs to get a first down and move the chains, plenty of time to
shorten the FG and still take shots in the end-zone. instead what
does peyton do? throw twice for the end zone and does not
advanced the ball to make it a easier field goal. why?
apparently vanderjagt is automatic from 45 in a playoff
atmosphere. apparently with 2nd and 2 on the pitts 28, peyton
thinks he has 2 free shots at the end zone since vanderjadt is so
automatic. I went back to check, the colts had 0:31 with 2
timeouts. do you know how much time that is by NFL
standards? 2nd and 2 would have been a PERFECT time to run a draw
considering pitts were essentially giving up the FG. 8 yards
minimum. call a time out, you would have 23 secs and 1 timeout
from the 20 with the entire playbook at your disposal, a chipshot FG in
your back pocket and plenty of time.
(note: I doubt anyone remembers, brady's first SB vs the rams on the
last drive, there were 2 important plays that were over looked.
1) first was a short pass to a running back in the middle of the field,
and that RB immediately darted for the sideline to stop the clock, not
hesitating for 0.000001 sec, and barely making it. that was the
results of great coaching. 2) second was the play after pats got
to the rams territory after troy browns catch and ONE PLAY before "the
kick". Quick snap, 3 step drop, throw to the TE for another 3
yards to make it a 47 instead of a 50 yard fg. idea is to get as many yards as we can get. we would never
know if those last 3 yards would make a difference but why take the
risk of finding out?)
would it really hurt the colts to play for a tie? they are at
home,
they just scored 15 points in the last 5 minutes, they have all the
momentum. A Tie at the end of regulation would easily lead a win
in OT. anyway, colts line up for the FG, pitts calls
timeout. NOW here is something you will NEVER EVER see...
vanderjagt backs up after the timeout call and actually POINTS to the
pittsburgh bench. apparently vanderjagt is so automatic that he
knows pitts is trying to ice him and that he is too good for that and
he goes out and ackowledges the pitts bench for calling the timeout.
result? FG missed the uprights by about 25 yards. i am sure
it was probably short too.
pittsburgh @indy was an absolute disgrace to in-game management.
Probably one of the worse games i have ever witnessed in terms of
coaching, time-management, play calling, player discipline, referee-ing... you name it.
i am now convinced that one reason patriots is a dynasty is because we
play pittsburgh and indy in the playoffs every year. why?
playoff game vs pitts/indy = automatic win.
Denver was one place patriots could never win at. too bad we
couldnt advance because we would have trounced pitts/indy by at least 2
TDs.
